Osteopathy Services in Chelmsford

At Chelmsford Osteopathy Clinic, I’m dedicated to helping you achieve optimal health and wellbeing. With years of experience, I specialise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions affecting muscles, joints, and overall mobility. Whether you’re dealing with acute discomfort, a long-term issue, or seeking preventative care, I’m here to guide you on your journey to recovery.

My approach focuses on treating the person, not just the symptoms — taking the time to understand you and what’s really going on, so we can address the root cause together. Every treatment is carefully tailored to your individual needs, using gentle manual techniques to restore balance, improve circulation, and enhance your body’s natural ability to heal.

The Treatments I Offer

A typical appointment combines several techniques depending on what’s most appropriate for your condition, your body, and your preferences. Not every technique is used in every session, and I’ll always explain what’s recommended and why.

Manual Therapy & Joint Mobilisation
Gentle, controlled movements applied to a joint to improve range of motion, reduce stiffness, and relieve pain. Particularly effective for stiff or arthritic joints in the spine, hips, shoulders, and knees.

Soft Tissue Therapy
Hands-on work targeting the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia surrounding a joint or area of pain. By applying sustained pressure and rhythmic stretching, I can release areas of tension, improve local circulation, and reduce pain.

Manipulation (High or Low Velocity Thrust)
A precise, controlled movement applied to a specific joint that may produce the familiar “clicking” sound — simply the release of gas from the joint fluid, which is completely normal. Always discussed and explained beforehand, and only used where appropriate.

Myofascial Release
Sustained, gentle pressure applied to restricted areas of fascia — the connective tissue surrounding every muscle and structure in the body — to release tension and restore normal movement. Particularly effective for chronic pain conditions and patients who prefer a gentler approach.

Muscle Energy Techniques (MET)
A gentle, active form of treatment where you use your own muscle contractions — guided by me — to improve joint mobility and reduce muscular tension. Particularly useful for pelvic imbalances, restricted spinal joints, and tight hip flexors.

Harmonic Technique
A gentle, rhythmic form of treatment using small, oscillating movements to release tension in the muscles and joints without discomfort. Particularly well suited to patients who are in acute pain, those who are nervous about treatment, or anyone who prefers a very gentle approach.

Dry Needling
Fine, sterile needles inserted into trigger points within a muscle to release tension, reduce pain, and restore normal muscle function. Focused specifically on the musculoskeletal system and highly effective for persistent muscular pain.

Exercise & Rehabilitation Advice
Hands-on treatment is only part of the picture. All treatment plans include tailored exercise and rehabilitation guidance, progressed at a pace that suits you — whether that’s a simple daily stretch routine or a more structured rehabilitation programme.

Posture & Lifestyle Advice
Many conditions I treat are influenced by how we sit, stand, move, and live. As part of your treatment, I’ll always take the time to understand your daily habits, work environment, and lifestyle, and offer clear, realistic advice on changes that may support your recovery and long-term health.

What I Treat

I treat a wide range of conditions, including back pain, neck pain, sciatica, joint stiffness, sports injuries, tension headaches, postural issues, work-related strains, and discomfort during pregnancy, among many others.

Not sure if your symptoms fit one of these categories? That’s completely normal — many people aren’t sure what’s causing their pain before an assessment. If you’re unsure whether osteopathy can help your specific situation, I’m happy to discuss your concerns and recommend the most effective course of treatment.

About Me

I hold a Masters of Osteopathy (M.Ost) from the University College of Osteopathy and am registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). Discounts are available for Blue Light Card holders (NHS, armed forces, and emergency services) and students. Read more about me →

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Your first appointment includes a thorough discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and goals, followed by a physical assessment. I’ll explain what’s likely causing your symptoms and discuss a treatment plan tailored to you — treatment often begins during this first visit, where appropriate.
