About John Dods | Osteopath in Chelmsford

At Chelmsford Osteopathy Clinic, I’m dedicated to providing personalised, evidence-based osteopathic care to patients in Chelmsford and across mid-Essex.

My approach is simple: I treat the person, not just the symptoms. Rather than focusing only on where it hurts, I take the time to understand you — your history, your lifestyle, your goals — so we can get to the root of what’s going on and develop a plan that’s built around you.

I hold a Masters of Osteopathy (M.Ost) from the University College of Osteopathy and am registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) 11168— the regulatory body that ensures all practising osteopaths in the UK meet rigorous standards of training, practice and professional development. Chelmsford Osteopathy Clinic has been independently recognised by ThreeBestRated as one of the three best osteopathy clinics in Chelmsford, and is the highest-rated osteopathy clinic on Google in the area with over 160 five-star reviews.

Every patient who comes to see me can expect to feel genuinely welcomed, heard and cared for. My goal is straightforward — to help you get back to doing the things you love, feeling like yourself again.

Discounts are available for Blue Light Card holders (NHS, armed forces and emergency services) and students.

If that sounds like something you could do with, I’d love to help. You can find out what to expect at your first appointment → or view the full range of treatments I offer →

John Dods

After spending over 30 years in the financial markets in London, I decided the time was right to pursue a new career in osteopathy, where I’m now able to spend my time helping others who are experiencing pain and discomfort.

To practise as an osteopath, I spent four years studying full-time for a Masters of Osteopathy (M.Ost) at the University College of Osteopathy (formerly the British School of Osteopathy), which involved approximately 1,000 hours of clinical practice.

After graduating, I spent some time working within the NHS as an MSK clinician but found the short patient appointment times and long waiting lists didn’t allow me to spend quality time with the patients I was there to help. That’s why I decided to open my own practice, where I can give people the time and space they deserve to be listened to and cared for.

I previously spent time teaching at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in London and have worked with Chelmsford Rugby 1st team.

I specialise in the most common musculoskeletal pain conditions and have a keen interest in sports injuries and rehabilitation. I’ve also taken additional courses in Neurodynamics, Myofascial Release, Muscle Energy Techniques, Buteyko Breathing, Dry Needling, and more.

I’m fully insured, registered with the General Osteopathic Council, and enhanced DBS checked.

When I’m not in the clinic, I enjoy spending time with family and close friends, and have a passion for staying active and healthy — something I hope can help inspire others too.
